I Exposition of the Presa Canario
Last June 27th, Exposition I of the Presa Canario was celebrated for the first time in the history of Telde at the El Quinto fairgrounds, in the San Juan district, all being a resounding success, as much in the organization as in the participation of pedigree specimens, according to the literal words of the national judge, Celemente Reyes Santana, who mentioned that with the 163 dogs that participated in said exposition a record had been broken, at the same time he made mention of the excellent quality of the animals that were shown by their owners.
It is calculated that the on mass scale of participation of the spectators was around 2,000 or 2,500. A new record, as judge Clemente Reyes mentioned earlier.
Prizes were given for the following categories:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th for pups between 1 and 6 months old; 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th for pups between 7 and 12 months old; and so on for female adults, male adults and the champion of champions, the latter being the best specimen presented and corresponding to the dog named Ebro, owned by don Julián Seli and representing Jardín Canario.
Behind the obtained success was the organization, that was taken care of by the board of directors of the Association. The Unión Casino of Telde has seen fit to try to continue with this type of event in the future, in order to continue offering the citizens, young and old alike, the possibility of spending a Sunday such as this one in the city of Telde.
The event lasted approximately seven hours.
The organizers, Nacho Calderín and F. Ramón Alamo, encourage this board of directors to proceed as they are doing and, to give my (their) most heart felt congratulations to all those persons who have collaborated with this event, especially the town festivities councilor, without whose collaboration would have been carried out with great difficulty, according to organization sources.
I Exposición del perro de presa canario
El pasado día 27 de junio, se celebró, por primera vez en la historia de Telde, la I Exposición de Perros de Presa Canario en el recinto ferial de El Quinto, del barrio San Juan, siendo todo un rotundo éxito, tanto en organización como en participación de ejemplares de raza, según palabras textuales del juez nacional Clemente Reyes Santana, que mencionó que con los 163 perros que participaron en dicha exposición se había batido todo un récord, a la vez hizo mención a la excelente calidad de los animales que allí expusieron los propietarios.
Se calcula que la participación masiva de espectadores estuvo alrededor de 2.000 ó 2.500. Todo un récord, como anteriormente mencionaba el juez Clemente Reyes.
Los premios se repartieron por categorías que serían las siguientes:
1, 2, 3, 4 y 5 cachorros de 1 a 6 meses; 1, 2, 3, 4 y 5 de 7 a 12 meses, hembras adultas, machos adultos y campeón de campeones, siendo éste el mejor ejemplar presentado y correspondiendo al perro con el nombre de Ebro, propiedad de don Julián Seli y representando el Jardín Canario.
Tras el éxito obtenido, la organización, que corrió a cargo de la junta directiva de la Sociedad. La Unión Casino de Telde ha visto con buen ojo el intentar seguir con este tipo de actos en tiempos venideros, para seguir ofreciendo a los ciudadanos la posibilidad de que, tanto niños como mayores, pasen un domingo como el vivido en la ciudad de Telde.
El acto tuvo una duración aproximada de siete horas.
Los organizadores, Nacho Calderín y F. Ramón Alamo, animan a esta junta directiva a que prosiga como lo están haciendo y, darles mis mayores felicitaciones a todas aquellas personas que han colaborado con este evento, especialmente al señor concejal de Festejos que según fuentes de la organización, sin esa colaboración difícilmente podría haberse llevado a cabo.
