HOW TO CHOOSE A PRESA PUPPY?

To choose good presa pup we must ask ourselves a question – for what we want this dog. Does it have to be working or show dog? It’s not easy to choose the best one, but there are some things that can show us that this pup can be good dog in the future.  Firstly good pup is the one with good character and temperament. It’s the pup that is confident and curious of surrounding world. Puppies that are behaving aggressively or cowardly are not what a good presa-puppy should be. Older, few months old dogs can be of course suspicious when it comes to strangers but never it shuold be extreme aggression or shyness. Good pup will be happy and friendly and will be intelligent.

Good puppy will be the one that is in good shape, its belly is nice and round, coat shiny, eyes clear. Good puppy moves easily, it doesn’t “jump” or limp when it’s walking.

Good puppy is the one that is proportional, has big head and wide and deep chest. Its nose is wide and its eyes are set widely and are of correct shape (slightly oval). Ears are set wide and high. Colour and markings are typical. Puppy should be slightly longer than its high in shoulders. Body construction is strong yet athletic. Paws straight and with good angulation of shoulder and hind quarters. Paws should be proportional to the rest off the body, never to short or to long. Skin elastic. Bite in scissors and canines set wide apart.
